Job Description

A cook’s primary task is to plan and serve nutritious meals for guests. Cooks are in charge of the kitchen’s daily operations, including making orders, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and adhering to all food safety regulations. This job is best suited to someone who is well-organized, self-motivated, and has prior culinary experience.

Qualifications:

  • Make short and long-term cash management strategies, as well as monthly and yearly cash flow estimates.
  • Lifting up to 20 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds, and carrying up to 30 pounds are all vital, as is standing and walking frequently.
  • In the absence of the Head Chef or Sous Chef, is responsible for ensuring that the kitchen is safe and efficient.
  • Meets company requirements by meeting scheduling requirements such as nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • The chef de cuisine should be well-organized, well-dressed, and professional in appearance. He or she must also be a team player who works well with others.
  • Assist with cleaning equipment and dishwashing machines as needed to keep all kitchen areas, tools, and utensils clean.
  • A cook is responsible for setting up, food preparation, organization, sanitation, and food and beverage item manufacturing, as well as closing and storing each work station.
  • Produce high-quality hot and cold foods using the Executive Chef’s recipes.
  • Tastes products, analyses menus, estimates food requirements, verifies output, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and buy supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and order in all sections of the kitchen, including storage shelves, passageways, work stations, walk-ins, refrigerators, and coolers.

Skills:

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with a diverse management team.
  • If you are 18 years of age or older, you must be able to pass a background check, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, prior employer, education, and personal references, unless federal, state, or provincial legislation prohibits it.
  • HACCP policies and procedures are followed.
  • A high school diploma or a bachelor’s degree in general education (GED).
  • For at least one year, you must have worked as a Cook in a high-volume, high-speed kitchen.
