An exceptional opportunity has come up for a Reporter. This reporter will be in charge of taking the audience of the company into the creative community, from sizable concert halls to the studios of up-and-coming artists. They will explore the various ways that culture is displayed in our multicultural area, such as through music, craft, tradition, cinema, performance, and storytelling. They will discuss how new societal trends are being portrayed through art and music, as well as how the intersection of the arts, culture, and underrepresented communities is explored in their stories. A lively communicator who feels at ease on both sides of the mic is the ideal applicant for this position. They should be able to create gripping audio storytelling for radio and podcasts in addition to moderating engaging, memorable dialogues both on-air and in the public.

Qualifications:
- Make good use of online communities and information sources to get the word out.
- Locate and produce engaging arts coverage for broadcast on air, online, and on television and radio, as well as for podcasts.
- Depending on the circumstances, you may also be asked to take photos, make videos, or do interviews on camera to accompany your reporting.
- The journalist will also be responsible for covering and uncovering stories about the influence of money in politics, including the activities of lobbyists, PACs, donors, and those with potential conflicts of interest.
- Engage in regular dialogue with the local art communities and organize gatherings for discussion.
- Collaborate closely with editors and content creators to outline a vision and strategy for arts coverage.
- Find tales where the arts, culture, and underrepresented populations converge.
- Keep up with your regular filing, which may need you to put in extra time on the weekends or after hours.
- In addition, you’ll need to familiarize yourself with federal and state online reporting systems, monitor and investigate public disclosure forms, and submit records request forms.
- In this role, you will pitch ideas and work on given stories. The managing editor is who you will answer to.
Skills:
- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are all useful tools, so mastering them is a plus. Prior knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms is desired.
- Capacity to competently represent the station and operate effectively both independently and collaboratively.
- or an equivalent mix of education and experience, a bachelor’s degree and three years of professional journalism experience, with considerable expertise covering the arts.
- English language proficiency and the capacity to convey specialized concepts to a broad audience
- fundamental knowledge of the equipment and processes utilized in audio production.
