Job Description

The Credit Manager reports to and works directly with the Director of Credit and the Director of Risk to handle credit risk monitoring, new customer investigations, and collection operations across multiple industries. In the near future, this function will be largely focused on the use of reporting and systems to promote efficiencies throughout the credit and collections process.

  • When dealing with complicated deductions and/or collections that require extra effort to resolve, it’s best to get in touch with management and the relevant staff members.
  • Build strong customer relationships to create maximum value; routinely communicate via email and telephone with customers and internal associates.
  • Continuously seek out new ways to automate, streamline, or eliminate tasks in the credit department to improve processes and reduce costs through a manage by exception mentality.
  • Create data-driven reports and analytics for upper-level management use in tracking risk, collecting, and trends. Report on the accounts that pose the greatest risk and suggest solutions.
  • Manage the Credit Department’s collection activities. Get the facts, write up a report, and pay off any bills. Respond to mounting collection issues. Assisting with collections when needed and acting as a point of contact for customers and sales staff.
  • Maintain proper accounts receivable balances for the economic environment and business circumstances.
  • All credit and collection policies and programs are developed, led, and administered. Onboarding new clients, credit monitoring, and collections are all managed by the department.
  • Establish and maintain connections with professionals in the legal, collection, credit bureau, and other sectors of the economy.
  • Keep tabs on when liens and releases are recorded, and consult an attorney if you have any questions.
  • Frequently review the various accounts receivable aging data to pinpoint the accounts that need to be followed up on.


  • Excellent customer service skills, strong interpersonal skills, the ability to negotiate, and the ability to effectively manage at all levels of an organization and with remote employees are all essential.
  • Competence in reading, analyzing, and synthesising a wide range of written material, including but not limited to business and trade publications, news articles, fiscal reports, and legal briefs.
  • Three or more years of experience in progressively responsible financial and credit leadership roles in the manufacturing, construction, or petroleum industries is preferred.
  • Strong sense of urgency and focus on getting things done; high levels of integrity and dependability.
  • Expertise in analyzing and fixing problems, as well as the ability to make sound decisions after quickly weighing all relevant factors.
