Job Description
The purpose of this position is to lead and encourage teams throughout our firm to use data to address key customer challenges. The Economist will assist in the creation of and enable solutions that range from descriptive analytic insights to sophisticated algorithms or models in terms of analytic complexity. From hypothesis through delivery, the economist will assist, execute, and organize studies, models, and projects that represent deep understanding of business concerns and connect with project and company objectives.

Qualifications:
- Assist in the development of the department’s toolkit and products, including the introduction of new and creative solutions, in order to meet business expectations.
- To aid in the design of budgetary as well as economic objectives in line with strategic planning efforts, determines and proposes timelines and methods for the delivery of financial and economic data.
- Surveys may be used to obtain economic data, compare prior data to current conditions, and uncover the linkages between key economic features for well-defined initiatives.
- Work with a senior economist to perform economic research, analyses and interpret data, develop benefit estimates, and report results.
- In order to analyze and anticipate market activity, previous trends must be examined.
- Study challenges raised by research sponsors, management, or senior staff, then plan, arrange, and report on the outcomes.
- Collaboration with other economists and senior executives is essential in order to effectively convey and present economic ideas and quantitative data to non-technical audiences, both verbally and in written form.
- Analyze data with the use of mathematical models and statistical methods.
- Collect and analyze existing data, as well as undertake research to uncover new data sources for analytic purposes.
- Contribute to analytical research projects on a range of economic policy issues on behalf of public and private sector clients (e.g. market research, surveys, project and impact evaluations, etc.)
Skills:
- Applicants must have completed at least 21 semester hours of economics and three semester hours of statistics, accounting, or calculus.
- Recent economics academic research on entrepreneurship, small business, employment, and labor market dynamics must be reviewed.
- Teaching assignments that included both classroom instruction in economics subjects and one of the following: (1) personal research that produced evidence of results, (2) direction of graduate theses in economics, or (3) consulting or advising on technical economics problems in a college or university.
- Accurate written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to tailor communications to a wide range of different audiences.
- The applicant should have a strong sense of leadership and a persistent drive to learn and improve his abilities.
