Qualifications:
- Individuals that operate in this field use a variety of various pieces of equipment, apparatus, and tools. Among them are a dump truck, a front-end loader, a backhoe, a tamping machine, a cement mixer, an air compressor, a jackhammer, a concrete saw, a mallet, a shovel, a rake, and an axe. Concrete implements, concrete forms, and so on.
- Performs manual labor activities associated with department projects (which may include, among other things, lifting/moving heavy products, shoveling materials, clearing up debris/litter, and erecting signage).
- Documents such as reports or work orders are provided to you for completion; you then process the information and either forward it or preserve it for your records.
- The tasks of the Concrete Finisher involve operating machines and doing manual labor in the construction and finishing of concrete surfaces, as well as aiding with other Public Works projects.
- Using a vibrating machine to compress concrete Anchor bolts, steel plates, and other concrete fittings are inserted into newly poured concrete. Sponge rubber float or burlap may be used for this purpose.
- First, the forms are checked for accuracy; if there is a problem, the process of setting and aligning them is repeated until they satisfy the standards.
- Creating a smooth top surface on newly poured concrete floors, walls, ceilings, or walkways. To cure the surface of concrete, hardening and sealing agents are applied.
- Regularly inspects and cleans equipment to keep it in working order; monitors equipment operations for efficiency and safety; reports malfunctioning equipment.
- Provides information, takes and transmits messages, and answers to service and information requests from workers, authorities, the public, and others through telephone and/or two-way radio.
- Making use of a variety of different types of cementitious materials to repair damaged concrete surfaces.
Skills:
- To guarantee that projects are done correctly, it is necessary to be able to adhere to all safety standards and procedures and to communicate effectively with coworkers and superiors.
- A high school diploma or GED is needed, as well as two (2) years of prior experience and/or training in concrete or brick work; or any comparable combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
- It is necessary to possess communication abilities.
- Move a minimum of 30 pounds and a maximum of 150 pounds with the assistance of others
- Working shifts (days, nights) and long hours (70+ hours a week and nights) throughout the summer months is a need.
