Job Description
Crane Operators lift, move, and place loads such as machinery, equipment, goods, and solid or bulk materials by executing the following responsibilities with a moving or stationary crane (cab operated). The needed degree of skill and expertise is high. Required: NCCCO or CIC.

Qualifications:
- Crane parts are inspected for broken or malfunctioning components and reported to the supervisor. Cleans and maintains the crane and lifting mechanism.
- Comprehend and adhere to all relevant company, customer, and health and safety policies, as well as any other applicable requirements, such as weight and size restrictions.
- An understanding of the written and visual instructions and specifications as well as the ability to use mathematics to determine the weights of loads and the dimensions of the wire and fittings are essential skills.
- This work requires the following tasks: procure and inspect rigging, connect rigging to load, examine travel path, blow whistle, notify crane operator, guide load to destination, place load, detach rigging, and return to storage rack.
- Use radio or visual signals, as well as other modes of communication, to work with riggers and truck drivers to lift items and other cargo.
- Examine the crane and cab, fill out inspection documentation, operate the crane (4 hand levers, 1 foot brake), and complete steel orders by climbing a vertical ladder (to a height of 25 feet).
- Rigger Operation Manual (must be kept on the rigger at all times), referee whistle, chains, nylon slings, pallet lifters, magnets, vacuum lifters, posi-turner, spreader bar, softeners, tape measure, hammer, punches, pliers, crescent wrench, and paint stick marker are all necessary for this work.
- Able to operate in all-weather situations, reports any and all incidents quickly. As ordered by management, performs various tasks.
- After completing the obligations of the Crane Operator, and if the workload for the main job above permits, the Rigger does his duties.
- Using the control panel, you can keep track of activities and make modifications to the process. All jobs are completed in compliance with safety regulations and legislation, and preventative maintenance is carried out.
Skills:
- Previous experience operating a cab and bridge crane (or a crane of a similar type) from heights of 30 feet or more and spans of 60 feet or more is required for this job.
- Capacity to guarantee that all safety and housekeeping rules are observed, machine capacity is not exceeded, and all tools, supplies, and equipment are correctly accounted for and stowed at the end of each workday.
- This profession necessitates a working knowledge of sophisticated equipment.
- In order to ensure that the physical health and capacity to fulfil the tasks of this job are maintained, a pre-employment physical examination is required.
- Certification from either the NCCCO or the CIC is required. It’s necessary to have a current DOT medical card. Managerial certification or endorsement from the safety department is necessary. Because it’s required by the local government (DC requires operators to be licensed). An on-the-job assessment is required.
