Job Description

Payroll administration, payroll audit, and best practice payroll procedures are all performed by the Payroll Analyst. Compile, evaluate, and record payroll and associated problems to discover systemic difficulties or mistakes. Answer internal and external payroll questions. Prepare information for external and internal auditors and support internal payroll audits. Reconcile all tax and unemployment responsibility accounts, examine discrepancies, and provide remedies. Responsible for quarterly and year-end payroll tax reporting, research, and resolution. Work with low supervision and considerable discretion. Trains department workers and handles payroll escalations.

Qualifications:

  • Maintain open lines of communication with business users in order to ascertain and explain the needs of the company, transform requirements into system functionality, and provide suggestions to guarantee that the system is operating at its maximum potential.
  • Requests from both internal and external customers including state and federal authorities are handled by this position. Prepare ADHOC reconciliations, reports, and offer correct information.. Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closing payroll reports; before delivering to internal/external customers (excluding EDD, IRS, vendors, auditors, CSMC management, etc.), administer quality review; analyze transactions; resolve discrepancies; and provide key observations and/or recommendations as necessary.
  • Work directly with HR employees on monthly payroll procedures such as contract pay, BenefitFocus processing, termination lump sum payments, employee termination eforms, extra pay eforms, and overpayment/underpayment analysis and resolution.
  • Perform regular audits of employee absence records to ensure that all pertinent data is accurate and in line with company policies and procedures. If modifications are required, make them as soon as possible so that data in reporting and systems is up-to-date.
  • Maintain complicated and private accounting and bookkeeping records regarding salary payments and deductions.
  • In this position, the payroll is handled twice a month. Begin by creating each task, checking the results, then correcting any mistakes.
  • Accurately balancing the District’s payroll expenses with the District’s annual budget, maintaining a thorough control sheet for each payroll period, and adhering to federal, state, and local laws and regulations are just a few of the duties of this position.
  • Determine whether transfers, promotions, demotions, full-time or part-time changes, and status changes need compensation plan revisions.
  • Preparation of all District workers’ payrolls, including tax, social security and other insurance deductions, as well as retirement plan contributions is required. Maintain accurate tax, benefit, and organization dues records for all district employees. Make necessary alterations and revisions to the levy.
  • Assume the role of a technical resource for District employees and other individuals in regard to payroll functions; respond to inquiries; resolve issues, conflicts, and discrepancies; and provide technical information concerning related transactions, records, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Skills:

  • The knowledge of time-reporting systems and processes is highly desired. Having worked under a union contract is a distinct advantage; nonetheless, it is not a must. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, as well as the ability to communicate both vocally and in writing are essential.
  • Workday experience in an analytical role of at least two to four years is required; expertise of the following Workday modules is preferred: Payroll, benefits, wages, bonuses, and other kinds of payment are all discussed in Human Capital Management (HCM).
  • payroll processing from time capture through final tax payments Automated payroll systems expertise is essential, and SAP expertise is highly encouraged.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business, or a comparable mix of education and experience, would satisfy the bulk of the criteria stated below.
  • A minimum of three and a half to five years of recent progressive relevant analytical and reporting experience, including the processing of garnishments, is required for a Level 2 position. It takes a minimum of five and a half years of this competence to get to level 3.
