Full-Time Field Reporter (Social Media) – Jazan
Job Description
The Reporter’s primary focus should be on state government and state-level politics, but this is not a must. That is, both governing and voting politics count. On average, the Reporter will be tasked with filing two to three articles per week on breaking news events and other timely topics, as well as conducting in-depth investigations to uncover previously unreported information (e.g., at least every couple of weeks).

Qualifications:
- Reporting duties may also include taking photographs, making audio recordings, or appearing in front of the camera to discuss your findings.
- Use social media and source networks actively for reporting and distribution.
- The duties of this role include coming up with story ideas and reporting on topics as needed. Your superior will be the managing editor.
- Keep up with your regular filing, which may need you to put in extra time on the weekends or after hours.
- Work closely with editors and content developers to develop a strategy for covering the arts that lays out your vision in detail.
- The journalist will also be responsible for covering and uncovering stories about the influence of money in politics, including the activities of lobbyists, PACs, donors, and those with potential conflicts of interest.
- Maintain regular communication with key players and organize events for the local artists.
- Listen to and create engaging art stories for podcasts, the web, film, and radio.
- Investigate the intersections between the arts, culture, and marginalized groups.
- There are also supplementary duties, such as monitoring federal and state reporting websites, conducting research on public disclosure forms, and filing records requests.
Skills:
- expertise in English and the ability to convey complex ideas to a wide audience.

- Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are all useful tools, so mastering them is a plus. Prior knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms is desired.
- Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of experience in professional journalism, preferably in an area where the arts are regularly covered.
