Job Description

Respond to requests for hazardous materials response and rescue operations within their authority; they also regulate the crowds and traffic at disaster scenes; they give First Responder medical treatment when required; and they conduct other related jobs as needed. A valid driver’s license is essential for all firefighters. The students in this class are expected to follow a set of procedures, but they are also expected to make their own judgments about when and how to perform the assigned activities.

Qualifications:

  • Additionally, certifications in CPR and first aid are essential, as is the ability to complete 240 hours of training each year in addition to carrying out the obligations of the position.
  • Maintaining current active status on all required licenses is a condition of continued employment, and the employee must have the license with him or her at all times while at work.
