Qualifications:
- The journalist will also be responsible for tracking donations, PACs, lobbying, conflicts of interest, and other areas where money plays a role in politics, as well as covering and finding stories related to these issues.
- By collaborating with editors and content creators, you may develop strategies that define your mission and methods for covering the arts.
- Use social media and other online networks actively as a means of dissemination and reporting.
- Maintain a regular filing schedule, which may include working late or on the weekend.
- In addition, you’ll need to be familiar with federal and state internet reporting systems, keep a watch on and investigate public disclosure forms, and submit records request forms.
- Pitch stories and work on stories as allocated are also responsibilities of this role. To the managing editor will you report.
- Storytelling opportunities exist where minority populations, the arts, and culture converge.
- Maintain regular communication with key players and organize events for the local artists.
- Find and create fascinating art tales for many channels, such as podcasts, web, video, and broadcast audio.
- Depending on the situation, you can also be required to capture still pictures, record video, or produce on-camera video segments regarding your reporting.
Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is helpful. Ability to use Facebook and Twitter and other social media preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree and three years of professional journalism experience with significant experience covering the arts; or equivalent combination of education/experience.
- basic expertise in audio production tools and methods or prior knowledge
- a command of the English language at a proficient level and the capacity to explain specialized concepts to a broad audience
- Capacity to competently represent the station and operate effectively both independently and collaboratively.
