Job Description

The job of Budget Manager is in charge of all programmatic components of internal and external reporting for the program. This job serves as the principal financial liaison with program employees and will lead efforts to organize financial information alignment among executive, program, and development personnel.

Qualifications:

  • It is in charge of overseeing the City’s yearly budget planning and review process, as well as the creation and monitoring of budget standards, rules, and calendars. It also publishes the final authorized City budget.
  • Respond to requests for information on assigned program areas from a variety of internal and external sources, liaising with stakeholders as needed to provide accurate and timely responses.
  • Completing tasks not specifically included in the job description, but which fall within a broad occupational category and correspond to a responsibility level often associated with the employee’s line of work.
  • To ensure that all grant applications for the Agency are properly processed, this division works closely with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Office of Finance on a number of operational and budgetary concerns.
  • Act as a liaison between the department and the VP&S Office of Budget on all budgetary concerns pertaining to the department. Assist the Departmental Administrator in the development of the Budget Narrative.
  • Researches Budget issues, and evaluates and analyzes financial data and trends; projects future resource availability, and recommends corrective actions.
  • When it comes to making decisions about everything from resource allocation to the quality of the services they get, customers and employees are constantly engaged.
  • In order to consistently and effectively monitor performance, the incumbent must integrate with a department operation team for a short- or long-term assignment, establish rapport, and use analytical criteria. It is critical to be able to set and adhere to deadlines.
  • Preparing short and long-term financial predictions and multi-year budget models, as well as identifying possible concerns with budget management and making suggestions for planning modifications, bonding possibilities and budget changes are the responsibilities of this role.
  • This person compiles data from many departments and comes up with a budget proposal; they then provide advice to the various departments on how much money they think they need.

Skills:

  • It is also necessary to have four (4) years of professional management experience in budget and grant preparation/administration to be eligible for this position.
  • Flexible work arrangements, whether from home, on the road, or in a regular office setting.
  • Knowledge of public sector financial and budget management theories, concepts, and best practices, including budgeting at the project level, resource allocation, and yearly financial reporting, in a big organization.
  • Excellent organizational and people skills, solid communication and writing abilities, ability to multitask, self-motivated, and team player. Computer/graphics/desktop and Internet software knowledge needed.
  • Working with massive datasets and implementing integrated software solutions and business intelligence tools necessitates a high aptitude for and knowledge with them.
