Qualifications:
- Vibratory machine used to squeeze concrete into smaller and smaller spaces Anchor bolts and steel plates are put into newly poured concrete before it is finished. A sponge rubber float or burlap may be used as a covering.
- Lifting/moving large objects, shoveling materials, cleaning up debris/litter, and installing signs are examples of manual labor.
- Maintenance of machinery, including cleaning, inspection, and monitoring for efficiency and safety are all part of the job. Equipment malfunctions should be reported.
- Leveling freshly poured concrete on floors, walls, ceilings, and walkways. When it comes to curing concrete, it is necessary to use hardening and sealing chemicals.
- First, the forms are checked for accuracy; if there is a problem, the process of setting and aligning them is repeated until they satisfy the standards.
- It is the Concrete Finisher’s responsibility to run equipment, do manual work, and assist with other Public Works projects.
- People who work in this job use a lot of different equipment, machinery, and tools for their work. These might include: dump truck, front-end loader, backhoe, tamping machine, cement mixer air compressor jackhammer concrete saw mallet shovel rake axe mechanic tools concrete tools concrete forms etc.
- Responds to service and information requests from workers, government authorities, the general public, and others through telephone and/or two-way radio.
- You could be given reports or work orders to complete. Once you’ve completed them, either pass them on or keep them as records.
- Repairs concrete surfaces using cementitious materials such as sand, different hues, and sand and cement.
Skills:
- It is necessary to be able to follow all safety standards and procedures, as well as communicate effectively with coworkers and managers in order to finish projects on time.
- Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, and communication abilities are required.
- In the summer months (70+ hours per week and nights), be prepared to work a variety of shifts and shift patterns (days, nights).
- Moving at least 30 pounds and up to a maximum of 150 pounds with the support of others
- For this position, you’ll need a high school diploma or GED, in addition to two (2) years of experience and/or training in concrete or brickwork. You may also use any other relevant training and expertise to get the task done.
