Job Description
It is the responsibility of this Landscape Architect job to give professional assistance to the department, as well as engage in the examination of planned projects in the city that would include Landscape Plans, Irrigation Plans, and specifications (where applicable). You will perform site inspections and offer construction administration to verify that the work is completed in accordance with city regulations. As part of the job description, this individual will develop and investigate landscape code updates, collaborate with internal and external divisions, and provide suggestions for innovative design solutions.

Qualifications:
- AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and LandFX skills are necessary, as well as the ability and initiative to come up with creative and visually appealing design ideas.
- In the case of hillside overlay sites, conduct a site inspection to confirm that all criteria, including as the maximum disturbance fence, landscape retention or removal, onsite grading, and preservation zones, are being adhered to
- As a manager, you’ll be in charge of supervising and organizing the work of consultants, as well as setting performance criteria and budget estimates and performing progress payment evaluations.
- Build an architecture and engineering team that works together to create a sustainable and resilient design that fulfils regulatory requirements and delivers value to the client.
- Responds to inquiries, suggestions, complaints, and ideas on the design of County Park facilities from individuals, community organizations, department agencies, and public authorities.
- As part of a park effort, this person arranges and organizes community engagement sessions, public meetings, and/or internal meetings with other stakeholders.
- Field investigations to gather information for design and/or facilities-related work, facility/site evaluation and inspection, ADA compliance assessments, and narrative scoping programs for construction projects with program requirements and budget/cost estimates.
- Work with other departments to ensure that all final landscaping and irrigation plan assessments are in compliance with the zoning code
- Prior to issuing a Certificate of Occupancy or releasing any financial assurance funds, do on-site landscape inspections to verify that the approved final landscape and irrigation plans are being implemented.
- The purpose of conducting and documenting field investigations is to gather information about the present situation as well as to examine and analyze data from previous investigations.
Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related subject. Experience as a Landscape Architect: 5 years; 1 year in public agency desirable. Experience may be considered for a college degree.
- Using current technology, design ideas, and certain engineering principles to create landscape architecture.
- An individual in this role must be able to multitask, as well as self-manage their calendars in accordance with project management criteria or milestones.
- The ability to design and execute landscape projects using landscape architecture principles and procedures.
- In charge of overseeing the production of contract plans, specifications and estimates, bid packages, and any other contract papers that may be necessary for the construction projects assigned to him.
