Full-Time Large Animal Veterinarian – Hajrah
Job Description
The Veterinarian will be in charge of the animal collection’s health, including quarantine and medical operations. The veterinarian will also assist with the purchase and disposition of animals in the collection, as well as animal transportation and hand rearing techniques as needed.

Qualifications:
- Ability to acquire and control euthanasia drugs and equipment; ensuring that supplies and equipment are used properly in line with all applicable state and federal rules and laws. Ability to keep up with current trends and advancements in the animal sheltering industry.
- Ability to collect animal data from employees, enter dispositions into a computer, and produce monthly and weekly reports in accordance with established procedures.
- Completes physical exams, diagnostic treatments, surgical, and dental operations successfully. Clients are informed about their pets’ diagnoses, treatment programs, preventative health care, and nutritional requirements.
- In a fast-paced shelter environment, provides high-quality sterilization surgery for population management of adopted animals. Triage, physical exams, emergency medical care, stabilization, diagnosis, and treatment of sick and injured animals, minor surgery, immunizations, and testing are all part of routine veterinary care.
- Employees receive training in animal husbandry, ethical animal handling, cleanliness and disease prevention, basic animal behavior, medical care, surgical assistance (intake and discharge), and animal first aid. Assists in the correct training, appraisal, and execution of euthanasia by injection in animals. Examines the seized animals and orders their euthanasia if they’re sick or injured.
- In order to develop partnerships, gathers detailed information from clients and listens to and understands their concerns and needs.
- In writing, establishes and implements medical treatment regimens. Ability to decipher animal-control ordinances, legislation, rules, and regulations, as well as city policies. Ability to respond to questions from the general public and civic officials; Assist with the prompt and effective settlement of issues.
- Maintains client/patient medical/surgical records and ensures that all required logs are kept up-to-date according to specified procedures.
- To acquire AAALAC certification, a laboratory animal care and use program must be established and maintained.
- All animals not already vaccinated against rabies are vaccinated when immunization is suitable, and all animals released from quarantine observation are confirmed rabies-free. Provides information to animal bite victims, such as how to ensure their safety.
Skills:
- It is necessary to possess communication abilities.
- You’ll need a federal DEA license and a controlled substance registration to deal with ultra-potent narcotics.
- A DVM, VMD, or similar degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school is required.
- Knowledge of MedARKs and ZIMS in conjunction with medical and/or other medical record-keeping systems.
- Must be able to work in a team environment and complete assignments with little supervision.
