Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools, using knowledge of tool and die design and construction, shop mathematics, metal properties, and layout, machining, and assembly procedures.

Qualifications:
- Utilize precision measurement to inspect finished units for flaws and to assure compliance to specifications.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment in order to guarantee appropriate and safe operation.
- Work is planned and arranged by reading and obeying verbal and written instructions and guidelines.
- The machinist configures and runs manual and CNC machine machines, as well as performs fundamental shop calculations relating to project dimensions, tooling, feeds, and milling speeds, utilizing a variety of machinist’s hand tools and precise measuring equipment.
- To build high-quality components, collaborate with programmers in technical communication.
- The processes and steps necessary to create a product as well as the dimensions and tolerances of the objects themselves may be discovered by examining prototype parts, blueprints, drawings, and technical data.
- Make sure you follow safety rules like Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO), Fall Protection, Confined Spaces, and the right way to use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when you work (PPE)
- Perform advanced turning, drilling, milling, and tapping techniques to produce the needed quantity of component components.
- Maintain and operate machine tools including lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Problems with tools, materials, software, equipment, or parts specs should be investigated and remedied. Recognize and propose improvements to machine performance by altering component specifications.
Skills:
- Two years of experience in mechanical or automotive engineering or an associate’s degree in the discipline is necessary.
- Extensive experience with manual, semi-automatic, and automated tools and machinery, as well as programming (lathes, grinders etc.)
- This profession requires knowledge of industrial machine technology as well as the ability to work with metals in a number of ways.
- To achieve precise measurements, precision instruments (such as calipers, micrometers, drop gages, and gage blocks) may be employed.
- A machinist must be able to work in temperatures up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer to do this job.
