Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring the creative principles and innovative strategies that build and protect our brand across all of our products, both new and old. This role contributes to the department’s overall efforts and strategic vision through participation in multidisciplinary cross-functional teams (consisting of strategists, marketers, copywriters, etc.) and by leading and mentoring a team of design professionals (graphic designers, industrial designers, photographers, illustrators, etc.). It also frequently works with freelancers, agencies, and outside consultants. The Artistic Director will approach conversations about strategic priorities with confidence and humility. The ideal creative director can both defend their work and articulate the rationale behind it while remaining open to feedback and new ideas. Your success in this role will depend on how well you can articulate your vision verbally and in writing. A successful candidate for this role will be someone who thrives in fast-paced, fluid settings like group brainstorming and teamwork workshops.

Qualifications:

  • Takes part in briefings for the brand; both approves and rejects alternatives depending on the brand’s creative approach.
  • Maintains, translates and extends the product brand equities’ look and feel. Archives, protects and shares creative brand identity and style guidelines as appropriate.
  • Maintains timely and informative channels of communication between the creative process and external stakeholders.
  • Presents to clients in a way that is clear, simple, and persuasive visually, while also being engaging, short, and direct in your argument and plan.
  • provides innovative ideas with a well-defined creative strategy to back up the internal creative department’s overall efforts.
  • pays meticulous attention to detail without sacrificing creativity.
  • Examines team-wide creative projects and offers subordinates direction, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Establishing budgets, schedules, and deliverables with the Account Management lead and department leadership in order to ensure adherence to spending limits.

Skills:

  • excellent ability to multitask, deal with change, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Expert in creating and defining design strategy, as well as improving designs from conception to development and implementation.
  • Six years of experience in graphic design, communications, or advertising, including package design, and a master’s degree in design, advertising, or communications with evidence of increasing levels of responsibility.
  • proficient in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and the Apple Macintosh operating system.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of package creation, including but not limited to the most typical aspects of packaging design, manufacturing, and pricing.
