Job Description
As the primary point of contact for patients throughout their office visit, the Medical Office Assistant is responsible for their well-being, security, and confidentiality. Maintenance of patient care and staff work areas; assistance with office functions as directed by department supervisor; communication with patients, doctors, and other office staff during patient visits; assisting doctors with suturing, delivering medical equipment, giving injections, taking x-rays, scheduling appointments, and keeping track of patients’ records; and more.

Qualifications:
- Check people in and out, set up follow-up appointments, and collect payment.
- Maintain a timely flow of information for directors, managers and committee members by typing memorandums, letters, position summaries, flow charts, graphs, variance reports and policies and procedures.
- aids in completing “end of the day balancing/closing” tasks such as preparing deposits for courier pickup.
- Plans follow-up visits for patients referred by physicians.
- Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Collects copays, deductibles, and account balances while posting charges and finishing paperwork.
- Filing, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration are just some of the administrative or clerical tasks you might be tasked with.
- Assign administrative duties such as filing, faxing, photocopying, collating, and project assembly as needed.
- The clinic always responds quickly to all of Medical Dimensions’ research coding/billing communications.
- According to the level of urgency, calls are routed to the appropriate department.
Skills:
- Prefer candidates with at least a high school diploma and one year of medical assisting training under their belt.
- The ability to operate a computer, printer, and fax machine is required for this position.
- An assistant for a medical office with at least three years’ experience is preferred.
- Requires independent thought, sound judgment, and the ability to make quick decisions.
- Work well under pressure and know what to do in difficult situations.
