Job Description
This position aids in the investigation of suspicious, unnatural, or violent deaths; acts as a liaison between the State Medical Examiner’s Office and the county medical examiner offices; serves as a liaison between relatives of decedents and the public; and conducts related tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
- In all criminal and civil matters related to investigations and any other forensic demands within County, we provide expert witness skills.
- Case files are compiled to chronicle the cause and manner of death and to serve as evidence. Responds to death scenes on a rotational basis and is responsible for late-night events. The incumbent may testify in other District and Federal Courts in the United States. The Chief or Deputy Chief Medical Examiner assigns projects. Infections are controlled and monitored.
- Responds to routine queries and complaints, investigates and resolves issues, and refers complaints/problems to the appropriate employees for resolution.
- Continuing education seminars, training programs, and the correct courses may help you stay up to date on the latest developments in your field and keep your skills fresh.
- Evidence from the death or crime scene, such as medical history, medications, the person’s mental state at the time of death, and weapons are collected by investigators. They also take photos and videos of the scene, interview relatives, friends, and witnesses, and get medical records from the person who died.
- Recordings of all investigative data are retained, including summaries of investigations and complete case reports. As appropriate, the investigator subpoenas police and medical records.
- All death investigations must be promptly and accurately documented in a computerized web-based records management system according to a predetermined format.
- Obtains medical information from a variety of sources including law enforcement agencies, lawyers, judges, other medical professionals, families of dead persons, the news media, district attorneys, and the general public.
- Some of the pathological conferences he attends are Neurophysiology Conference, Case Consensus Meeting, and Toxicology Rounds. A specialty in forensic neurophysiology instructs future doctors on how to do tasks such as examining brains and spinal cords. Other instructional initiatives devised by the Deputy Chief Medical Examiner/Medical Director are also assisted by this individual. An expert in the field of forensic pathology, this individual gives lectures and presentations on a variety of topics.
- In this job, you talk with a dead person’s doctor to find out about their past health or mental history. You also get medical and dental records of the person, look into reports from outside agencies, and help the Forensic Pathologists identify them.
Skills:
- In-depth familiarity with chain of custody techniques and procedures, including handling and preparing evidence.
- The Department of Professional Regulations mandates that all candidates seeking medical licenses have them. ‘
- performing duties quickly with little supervision, demonstrates a high degree of initiative, effort, attention to detail, and devotion.
- To qualify, you must have an associate’s degree in biology, medical science, para-medicine, or a closely related field, as well as 1,000 hours of documented work experience. It is ideal if you have previous expertise in the area.
