Job Description
As part of the planning team, the City Planner works on a number of initiatives such as comprehensive and area planning, zoning reviews and changes, flood zone planning, and historical preservation. This role is a part of the series of employment opportunities for professional planners.

Qualifications:
- Obtains, reviews for completeness, and processes development applications, which may include site plans, subdivision requests, conditional use permits, and other land development proposals.
- The person in charge of developing programs for gathering and analyzing data on economic, social, and physical factors that affect land use, as well as making data-driven graphics and narrative reports, is this person.
- Leads the design and execution of community and stakeholder engagement activities.
- The ability to express complicated material efficiently, precisely, and correctly in both spoken and written form is essential.
- Assist in writing and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan, which includes coordinating, writing, presenting, and processing plan chapters and amendments, status reports, and other related activities, as well as other tasks.
- Documents for public hearings, meetings, and presentations to the Board of Directors are produced by this individual. Proposed projects are given to municipal governments, planning commissions, architectural design review boards, and the general public.
- Utilizing a broad range of office supplies, software, and processes used in contemporary commercial workplaces.
- Implement a daily delivery schedule that maximizes the use of current equipment, staff, and resources to maintain an efficient operation while meeting or surpassing the expectations of customers.
- Zoning and urban planning are overseen by the city’s planning director. He/she recommends and implements any changes to the city’s zoning plan review process or urban planning programme, as well as any procedural changes (i.e amendments to the plans, site plans, drawings, and reports, etc).
- Collects statistics data and conducts statistical research and comparative analyses; assists in the formulation of planning improvement and the modification of projected goals as needed.

- Understanding and practical expertise with the ideas and procedures of urban planning and redevelopment at the professional level.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to think swiftly and logically; ability to maintain composure under pressure.
- It’s important to know the physical, social, and economic aspects of a community, as well as how they work together. This includes knowledge of the most recent and upcoming trends in site and urban design. It also includes understanding the legal foundation and techniques used to write land use regulations, real estate, and development laws.
- When it comes to municipal zoning laws, regulations, and ordinances, the ability to absorb new knowledge rapidly is essential.
- There should be at least six years of professional experience in municipal planning and zoning with two years of supervisory responsibility, as well as a bachelor’s degree in the fields of urban planning or environmental planning or urban design.
