Job Description
As an Equipment Operator, you’ll operate heavy District equipment such as transports (semi-tractor/trailers), dozers, excavators, water tenders, engines, and other miscellaneous equipment. You’ll operate a fire dozer and drive a transport vehicle during wildfire emergencies. You may use heavy equipment for non-emergency land management in the District. You’ll organize and/or undertake physical effort to fight wildfires. Duties include operating heavy equipment and doing basic building and ground maintenance.

Qualifications:
- Maintains the operational condition of construction equipment by performing small mechanical repairs and maintenance operations.
- Loads, transports, and unloads construction supplies such as sand, flexbase, asphalt, gravel, and other materials from City stockpiles or suppliers to City sites in order to fulfill construction or maintenance projects.
- Safely operates, drives, and uses light to moderately complex equipment for City and utility maintenance; uses and drives rubber-tired backhoes, tracked excavators and loaders, maintainers, bobcats, street sweepers, cranes, soil compactors, and front-end loaders; excavates asphalt and concrete, clears debris and obstructions from creeks, and maintains the sanitary sewer system.
- Maintains compliance with all applicable safety rules and regulations while operating a truck and trailer rig to move earth moving or other medium to large sized automotive equipment to a work location.
- On a daily basis, make sure the maintenance facility is clean, orderly, and safe. Clean the equipment thoroughly after each use. Inspect all equipment and report any issues to the Equipment Technician.
- Maintains communication with both internal and external clients, such as cooperators, landowners, the general public, and fire departments, among others. has an awareness of and commitment to safe working procedures, Participates in the activities of the team in a cooperative manner.
- Moves and places raw materials and finished parts with the help of equipment for moving materials, Follow the correct standard operating procedures as a guide for driving and taking care of the vehicle.
- Operate hand and power tools, as well as construction and maintenance equipment including mowing machines, front-end loaders, and air hammers, in a safe manner. Cleaning culverts, mowing, mending potholes, clearing waste, and shoveling asphalt and snow are all examples of physical work.
- Carry out the responsibilities of an Equipment Operator, including but not limited to: logging all equipment operations, maintenance, and gas consumption
- Responsible for operating heavy equipment in a manner that is compliant with the company’s operational safety standards and procedures, Conducts periodic equipment inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment; keeps correct records
Skills:
- For six months or a year as an Equipment Operator I. Work experience may be replaced by coursework in turfgrass management.
- Construction processes, methods, and materials are all covered. familiarity with common workplace dangers and safety precautions Manual dexterity and endurance for long periods of time.
- Excellent communicator who maintains honesty and integrity in all interactions with those concerned. Performing upkeep on and running various power-driven machines and gadgets
- Demonstrated ability to promote a culture of service, diversity, equality, and inclusion in the workplace, as well as a team-oriented atmosphere with high levels of internal communication and coordination.
- a high school diploma or its equal in experience and education (GED), A valid driver’s license and two years of expertise in mechanical assembly, forklift operation, or comparable machine operation are essential.
