Job Description
To become a rigger, you must know how to change crane boom and cable, ladder and scaffold safety laws, and basic electrical safety. An NCCER-accredited certification is required for all riggers. Work-related hazards and how to properly use or operate equipment must be well studied and understood. Work at a factory or on a construction project.

Qualifications:
- All rigging equipment, including planks, fiber ropes, wire ropes, chains, swing scaffolds, and other rigging equipment, is examined, tested, and maintained.
- Installations often need the rigger to operate at a height of twelve to sixty feet above the ground, and frequently involve the use of safety equipment and ladders.
- However, even though individual initiative and judgment are required for much of the labor in rigging installation, functioning as a team becomes more important with time.
- Hand and power tools are used to fasten loads to rigging to provide support or to prepare them for transportation.
- Installation of hardware in existing buildings, hanging pipes, beams or tracks, and hardware in concrete, steel, wood, and block walls are some of the jobs in this project.
- Arranges for the safe lifting and lowering of all items, machinery, and/or equipment to and from working platforms, trucks, streets, floors, and other levels of buildings or vessels.
- Drilling, fastening, and testing the operation of head blocks, mule blocks, sheaves, and winches, as well as counterweighted, winched, and dead hanging system components.
- Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in accordance with business standards are critical components of this position’s success.
- Heavy lifting equipment must be set up and secured by a Rigger utilizing pulleys, ropes and hoists so that it may be operated safely. This individual engages in physical labor as a part of the day-to-day operations.
- By signaling or vocally guiding individuals engaged in lifting and moving weights, ensures the safety of workers and commodities.
Skills:
- To be appointed, candidates must pass a drug test. During their employment, riggers are subjected to random drug and alcohol testing.

- In order to effectively execute the duties of this position, the employee must often stand, walk, kneel, crawl, crouch, or sit.
- Under general supervision, moves, laces, and secures large things, such as machinery and structural parts, with the use of rigging equipment and ladders; conducts associated tasks.
- Five years of full-time experience as a Rigger doing the tasks listed under Duties and Responsibilities during the past 10 years.
