Job Description
A School Bus Driver is responsible for transporting all pupils between home and school in a safe, polite, and timely manner. Transports kids to and from specified stops while adhering to state legislation and department of education guidelines.

Qualifications:
- Fill out all appropriate paperwork and reports before, during, and after each voyage. Use suitable procedures to examine each vehicle. Operate and stop the vehicle as needed to allow individuals to enter or disembark.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic allocated bus at all times by cleaning, wiping all seats and the roof, sweeping, and washing the bus.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance at all times by adhering to your workplace’s dress code and maintaining proper personal hygiene.
- Control vehicle keys, fueling slip receipts, pre-trip and post-trip forms while in possession, and turn in to dispatch as required by your supervisor.
- Maintain, read, and understand route sheets, including time modifications, and notify the supervisor of any changes quickly. Make sure to keep up with routines by completing your regular duties and any extra outings on time and with as little absence as possible.
- A positive attitude toward your employees, bosses, and passengers will go a long way in promoting your company’s image.
- It is essential that you adhere to the company’s vehicle maintenance requirements for the assigned vehicle and all of its component components in order to maximize the vehicle’s lifetime while minimizing wear and tear.
- Take great effort to ensure that passengers can get to their destinations in a timely and safe manner by operating a designated route.
- Using safe and responsible practices, operate an adapted transportation lift to board and release challenged persons.
- Before and after each journey, make sure the vehicle and its specific equipment are completely examined, and submit the relevant papers to the administration.
Skills:
- The ideal applicant will be adaptable, a team player, and eager to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
- Must have a documented driving history of at least three years. In the preceding three years, no more than two moving infractions and one avoidable accident occurred.
- School bus drivers often utilize an emergency brake lever or an air brake button to remove the emergency brake before loading or unloading students. This is common practice on certain types of school buses.
- Wheelchairs with a maximum weight of 40 pounds may be lifted, stored, disassembled, and reassembled by the attendant.
- Passenger and School Bus endorsements must be on a commercial driver’s license that is valid for at least two years.
