Job Description
A School Bus Driver transports all kids between home and school in a safe, polite, and timely manner. In line with state legislation and department of education standards, transports kids to and from authorized stops while keeping a safe and clean environment.

Qualifications:
- Always attempt to increase the firm’s goodwill by collaborating with employees, managers, and other passengers as needed.
- Make sure that the assigned vehicle and all of its component parts are maintained in compliance with the company’s standards in order to ensure the safety of the vehicle, decrease wear, and extend its lifespan.
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip checks of the vehicle and its special equipment, and submit all necessary papers to the administration.
- Pass the car keys, fuel receipts, and pre- and post-trip paperwork to dispatch as requested by your supervisor while you have them in your possession.
- Clean and sanitize the designated bus at all times by mopping, cleaning all seats and the roof, sweeping, and washing the bus.
- Safely operate a vehicle on an assigned route in transporting passengers to and from designated locations, as well as related activities, in a safe, timely manner.
- Maintain a respectable look, which involves dressing appropriately for the job, grooming neatly, and maintaining sufficient hygiene.
- Assist people with disabilities in boarding and disembarking from wheelchair lifts in a safe and responsible manner.
- Inspect each vehicle before, during, and after each trip using proper procedures, and fill out all appropriate papers and reports. Use safe and responsible practices to drive the vehicle and stop to enable people to board and exit.
- Maintain, read, and understand route sheets, including time adjustments, and quickly report any changes to the supervisor. Maintain good work habits by completing daily chores and extra excursions on time and with little absenteeism.
Skills:
- Capable of lifting, storing, disassembling/reassembling wheelchairs weighing up to 40 pounds, as well as any other ambulatory equipment required by the passenger.
- The ideal applicant would be adaptable, collaborative, and prepared to fill in as needed.
- At the very least, you’ll need three years of driving under your belt. Two moving offenses and one avoidable accident occurred in the previous three years.
- It’s common for school bus drivers to stomp on the emergency brake pedal or push a button before loading and unloading children, and then remove the emergency brake by pulling or depressing a lever or pressing the air brake button.
- Be in possession of a current Class B or higher commercial driver’s license with endorsements for both passenger vehicles and school buses.
