Job Description

For the Digital Media Specialist, duties include the planning and development of publications as well as the construction of websites and other types of digital communications. Facilitates City projects, programs, events, and visions by assisting with their execution, dissemination, and promotion. A few examples of duties include, but are not limited to: conducting research; writing; producing; photographing; and editing video content; creating social media content; managing the city’s social/emerging media presence; and designing and updating city-related websites, digital displays, and advertisements/publications. Participate in the promotion of the various departments’ activities and objectives through collaborating with other departments. It is possible to help in the production and distribution of news releases, as well as developing favorable media relations, as part of one’s job. As required, third-party marketing agencies may be contacted for contact management.

  • Lead and direct marketing initiatives; establish and evaluate the efficacy of citizen surveys and communications; prepare submissions for program recognition and publishing; and coordinate with other marketing and communications professionals.
  • Works with commercial partners to design and produce digital media content. Ensures that set contact standards are fulfilled when writing, editing, and reviewing material. Digital media ensures that the digital media offers up-to-date and comprehensive product/service information to current and new consumers. Regularly oversees a review of all digital assets.
  • Keep an eye on the website for out-of-date information and update it as required, including photographs, video embeds, and textual content.
  • Developing reporting, analysis, and optimization ideas for sponsored social programs should be done in collaboration with the digital analytics team.
  • Preparation of management updates and presentations. Taking notes during meetings and weekly calls to assist build corporate strategic and tactical ideas.
  • Maintain customer relationships and look for ways to improve client efficiency via programming.
  • Make sure that your partners, such as third-party creative agencies and paid digital platforms, are performing better by working with the Acquisition Manager.
  • Make strategic/tactical suggestions using notes from meetings and weekly calls to assist build presentations and updates to management.
  • Make recommendations for the procurement and maintenance of digital media hardware and software. Recognize and correct problems with the digital media system. Prepare cost estimates for a variety of different equipment options. Conserve the resources of the institution.
  • Quality assurance involves ensuring that online material is optimized for search engines, that it is compliant with accessibility standards, and that links work correctly. When evaluating campaigns and programs, online analytics should be used and analyzed.


  • Achieve tight deadlines, alter courses as needed, and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Analysts and organizers who possess extensive computer abilities, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and hands-on expertise with content management systems and social media account management, are in high demand.
  • Having the capacity to communicate and organize is crucial, as are analytical and strategic thinking abilities and the ability to work with others.
