Job Description
The Budget Manager is in charge of all programmatic components of the program’s internal and external reporting. This role is the principal financial interface with program employees, and it will lead efforts to organize financial information alignment among executive, program, and development personnel.

Qualifications:
- Preparing short and long-term financial predictions and multi-year budget models, as well as identifying possible concerns with budget management and making suggestions for planning modifications, bonding possibilities and budget changes are the responsibilities of this role.
- Composes a budget; gathers budget data from various departments and develops a proposed budget plan; provides budget advice to other departments.
- To ensure that all grant applications for the Agency are properly processed, this division works closely with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Office of Finance on a range of operational and budgetary planning and execution concerns.
- Assumes extra responsibilities and duties that are not explicitly stated in the job description, but which fit within the broad occupational category and responsibility level generally associated with the employee’s class of work
- For a short- or long-term assignment, the incumbent must build rapport with the department’s operation team and use analytical criteria to track performance consistently and effectively. Setting and adhering to deadlines is critical.
- Priorities, workload, resource distribution, technology, quality standards, and services are routinely discussed and resolved by workers. Employees are also continuously supervised and reviewed to ensure they are doing their duties.
- Respond to information requests from a range of internal and external sources on assigned program areas, coordinating with stakeholders as necessary to deliver accurate and timely replies.
- Budget difficulties are investigated, and financial data and patterns are evaluated and analyzed; future resource availability is projected, and remedial measures are recommended.
- Make regular contact with the Vice President and Secretary’s Office of Budget on any issues relating to the department’s budget. Compile the budget narrative for the Departmental Administrator’s review and approval
- It is in charge of overseeing the City’s yearly budget planning and review process, as well as the creation and monitoring of budget standards, rules, and calendars. It also publishes the final authorized City budget.
Skills:
- Having a high level of aptitude and understanding for working with large datasets is essential when deploying integrated software solutions and business intelligence tools.
- Master’s degree in accounting, business/public management, finance, economics, quantitative analysis, or a closely related discipline from an approved institution or university.
- You must be acquainted with the theories, principles, and best practices of public finance and budget management, including project-level budgeting, resource allocation, and annual financial reporting.
- Self-starter and team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, strong communication and writing talents, and an ability to multitask. Needed are skills in computer graphics, desktop, and Internet applications.
- To be considered for this job, you must have a minimum of four (4) years of professional management experience in budget and grant preparation/administration.
